Starting and ending in Sanquair, I prefer this to the longer version begining at Drumlanrig because there is less dreary roadwork.

It was mid winter the last time i rode this so it was good to have dry weather and firm-ish ground to ride over this time rather than slush and powder snow.

A good aul traditional hard XC route to test your legs.

Anyhoo some pics.

Heading up from Sanquair

Heading for beyond the skyline

Descending the SUW

The Southern Upland Way to Glen Aber hill

Glenaber Hill.

Descending to Wanlock water.

Fast descending on a grassy track

Wanlock water.

Wanlockhead. Will he come out the other side alive?

I can sense the net curtains moving.

Wanlockhead. Locals always seem to be wearing boiler suits or driving ATVs. It's a "Work in progress" village but nothing ever gets finished.

It’s OK, I have a Gold digger at home.

The road climb up to the BIG gowf ba.

The only road in Britain with no potholes.

The highest telegraph poles in Scotland?

High above the Mennock Pass

The tricky off camber descent.

The long drop down following the Enterkin burn.

Narrow sheep track.

Seriously off camber and steep in places. Photos don't reflect this.
