'Cheap' carbon wheels?  

The Superstar ones are pretty narrow (17mm) internal which put me off but they have wider ones due out soon.

Heard a lot of good things about the fleabay rims so may take a punt and build a set up. There is a huge thread over on MTBR about them and a lot of happy users.

that new wider carbon rim could be possibly great..

SS builds are a bit crap though, may have got a set of 'Friday afternoon' wheels but mine needed a bit of work on them out the box.

they say that rims are made in same factory as other carbon brands - by same people basically

May be a good rim but a bad build makes for a weak wheel.

when building a carbon rim wheel , is it a lot harder to make it right ?

Shouldnt be any harder to build them.

For what its worth, i had a pair of "roval" carbon wheels and the differences between ( lets say hope pro's on mavic rims ) were a slightly more compliant ride over rougher ground..with a teensy weensy increase in cornering stiffness.
Acceleration is also slightly enhanced, although the subtle differences over the hopes come at a price that i would not be prepared to pay again.
The rear rim cracked between three spoke holes when it caught a drainage channel, so not sure if an alloy one would have fared any better.

Cheap is relative, the Chinese ebay ones are £120 a rim so double the price of a Stans!!
