How lucky are you, only a half hour trip to my fav 7 stane. Get your point about motivation, been like that since Dec and most of Jan. Getting torn into it now tho, not overly long rides but high intensity hill climbs, and doing a fair bit with carrying the bike on the back as well. Seeing a difference after just a couple weeks, and the diet is…[Read more]

Has me eagerly awaiting the return of spring looking at these pic’s. Done all these at some time in the past, but makes me even more determined to get back to Kirroughtree this year. Bit of a haul to get along there, but plan an overnighter staying in the van this summer. Gonna have a birl through the Galloway forest on day 2, see all the sights…[Read more]

Good to see you still hanging in there mate. Been yonks since I’ve been on here (described in ‘general chat’ post) but dipped my toe in the water tonight as I’m bored at work. As I recall, your posts were always a hoot, and a good read. Had plenty photy’s took last year, but havenae a scooby how to post a pic on here. Only ride local over the…[Read more]

  • Yep, me too. Lost the will to live when the website was ‘upgraded’, loads of problems and eventually just gave up. Agree with a lot of what Ray posted above, used to be on here all the time whilst on the nightshift. Great ideas for rides, and picked up a lot of good deals also. Jonny is right too, your write ups and pic’s were always very…[Read more]

Ray, I hope you’re getting some royalties for your coupon getting used on the opening sequence?

Man up I’d say! As asdfquerty suggests, they’d help with mixed groups, but I’m assuming you don’t fall into that category? I personally enjoy the challenge of the climb to enable me to do the ‘doon’ bit.

Ha Ha, are ye still alive Womble? You didn’t mention if you’d a parachute in yer backpack in case them brakes failed. No seen an auld oil dropper like that since I cleared oot ma faithers shed!

  • I’m inclined to agree with Bob regarding the Scott from Tredz. If you have the loot, and plan on being in it for the long game, that’s the best option. And at your height, I wouldn’t be thinking of a medium frame size. I’m 5′ 11 and a 19″ or 20″ (large) is req’d. You’ll get more enjoyable miles without your knees being up roond yer lugs when…[Read more]

Good point Womble regarding the countryside ranger, I’ll look up the number and get on it. Especially after reading the link on the access ‘rules’. Give way to others it says, jeezo, even when I stop and pull off the track to let them past, I get a look that says “imagine having the audacity to be here in the first place”. The worst thing is, that…[Read more]

  • Been using a wee mile long old school single track link trail for the last couple winters that has stood the test of time as the only track in Scotland that isn’t/wasn’t a quagmire. Mainly due to the fact that it seems to be missed by the local bikers. The other week i decided to get the mattock and the bushman out and clear all the fallen trees…[Read more]

  • You should get them in yer Gowf nae worries mate. I got mine in the laddies fiesta when the missus fecked off in my mondeo.

  • If one will fit in for length, you should get the other in also. Fling a heavy dust sheet on top of the bottom one to prevent scratches, and Bob’s yer uncle. Security was an issue for me as well. Bikes are better in the car when you stop for a bar lunch on the way hame!

If you’re lucky it’ll be mud and rain. More likely baltic winds and a bit of the white stuff going by the forecast. Had three inches of snow down here in balmy Fife today at only 1200 feet. The epic trails would take a few pages to describe, but at this time of year they would be a massive undertaking. Even the borders routes are high enough to…[Read more]

  • You’ll be fine with the bike rack as long as it’s fitted tightly enough. I used to take three bikes all over the shop when the bairns were wee. Have you tried folding down the back seats? You’d be surprised how you can get bikes in when you remove the front wheels.
