Glen Einich

Glen Einich

I’d been patiently waiting for the clouds over the Cairngorms to clear so I could not only get a decent route in that I hadn’t already covered a million times but also tick this route off, and my patience was finally rewarded last weekend – with not just a few less clouds, but clear blue skies and some pretty warm sunshine!

Ballater to Dinnet

Ballater to Dinnet

The Deeside Way itself runs along the disused railway line from Aberdeen to Ballater and is 45 miles from start to finish – but, with just a couple of hours to spare I only sampled the route from Ballater to Dinnet, however,

Rothiemurchus Forest Loop by Sarah Morton

Terrain: Easy to moderate with a few semi-technical spots, mostly flat with gentle ascent and descent. Distance: 12 miles Highest point: approx. 300m Bike: Hardtail This route would normally be one of my lunch hour jaunts as it’s quick and fun, but having been medically forbidden from riding for about a month (!) while I […]

Pitlochry and Eagagach Loop

Pitlochry and Eagagach Loop

This route involves around 40km of distance and 1600m of climbing so is not to be undertaken lightly.
There are two climbs so I would recommend starting from Strathtay to get the first climb out of the way while still fresh. There is a laybay for parking just past the Post office at Grid Ref: NN 908532.

Birnam Hill

Nearest Town - Dunkeld Distance - 4 miles Terrain - Steep mountainous and rocky.
